What is it?
Direct Air Capture is a technology that uses large fans to pull CO₂ directly out of the atmosphere, much like how a vacuum cleaner sucks up dust. The CO₂ is then captured through chemical processes and stored underground in geological formations.
Think of it as reversing the process of burning fossil fuels. While it is one of the most reliable and permanent carbon removal methods available, it is also currently very expensive and energy-intensive, which limits how widely it can be deployed at scale.

What does Deduci think?
DAC is arguably the most measurable CDR pathway as it directly removes CO₂ from the atmosphere and does not rely on photosynthesis, soil capture, or other means of removal. Although it does not require a significant amount of land, access to renewable energy and storage sites have been the largest factor in DAC’s scalability.
